Working committee, general and advisory councils set up 61 leaders designated as the special invitees Chandigarh: Expanding the party organisation further, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president, Sukhbir Singh Badal, on Friday announced the setting up of a working committee, a general council and an advisory council of the party. He said the lists of office-bearers of various districts would be announced from Saturday. This will be followed by the announcement of office- bearers of various wings of Shiromani Akali Dal including the women’s wing. Secretary and spokesman of the party Daljit Singh Cheema said all sections of the party had been given due representation in all the committees. He said the list of office-bearers and Political Affairs Committee (PAC) had already been announced.
He said that out of 108 members of the Working Committee announced on Friday, 24 leaders were from Scheduled Caste and 11 from Backward Classes. The list also contains eight women and nine members of the Hindu and two are Muslims. In addition, 61 leaders of the party had been designated as the special invitees of the Working Committee. Mr. Cheema said that out of 301 members of the General Council, names of 250 were released on Friday. Along with this, 35 senior leaders of the party had been nominated as political advisors of the party. PTI
