Panels formed to monitor fertilizer supply

Staff Reporter

Coimbatore: Fertilizer shops should not deal with other inputs for which licence has not been granted, according to a release from the Joint Director of Agriculture, Coimbatore District, K.R.R.C. Andavar. Farmers have also been advised to insist on receipts while buying farm inputs. Similarly, fertilizer sellers should not indulge in inter-district transfer of fertilizers.

To monitor the fertilizer supply, special committees have been formed to keep a close watch. The committees would be visiting the agricultural belts. In the event of any irregularities, the fertilizer shops would have to face licence cancellation besides criminal action under the provisions Fertilizer Control Rules of 1985.
