Staff Reporter

In a quarrel between two families over a ladder

NEW DELHI: In a bizarre incident, two brothers were killed and nine injured in a quarrel between two families over a ladder at Shastri Park in the Capital’s trans-Yamuna area on Friday.

A fight allegedly broke out around 11-30 p.m. when Shamshad asked Abdullah to return the wooden ladder he had borrowed some time ago.

However, Abdullah claimed that he had bought the ladder and refused to give it back. This led to an altercation between them.

Soon family members of both joined in and attacked each other. Shamshad (36) and his brother Chand (18) sustained stab injuries. They were rushed to a hospital where they were declared dead on arrival.

Those injured have been identified as Rahim, Sharif, Jameel and Husaina from Shamshad’s family; and Abdullah, his brother Zahid and Bhuri and Wahida.

It is alleged that Abdullah inflected injuries on himself. The injured have been admitted to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital.
