Delhi Jal Board makes RTI procedure simpler

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: The Delhi Jal Board has made the process of seeking information under the Right to Information Act simpler. It has decided to designate all Chief Engineers and Joint Directors (Revenue) as public information officers (PIOs) from this coming January 1.

The Board so far followed a centralised system for handling of application filed by information seekers under the RTI Act, according to which a single officer, the Board Secretary, was designated as PIO for the entire organisation.

“All the information seekers had no other option but to approach the single designated officer as PIO whose office is located at DJB headquarters,” said a statement issued by the Board.

Revised set-up

Under the revised set-up, information seekers will be able to submit their RTI requests at any office of the executive engineers, zonal revenue officers and PIOs located in their neighbourhood and seek information.
