FESTIVE MOOD: Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy offering a cake to Fr. Isaac Varaprasad at CSI Church in Pulivendula on Thursday. KARIMNAGAR: Internal bickering between Minister for Endowments J. Ratnakara Rao and Metpally MLA Komireddy Ramulu came to the fore in the form of a verbal duel between them during a loan mela in Metpally on Thursday. DisappearanceA cold war has been raging between the two leaders since the disappearance of Buggaram Assembly constituency, represented by Mr. Rao, and Metpally after delimitation. The new Korutla Assembly segment was constituted with Korutla mandal from the existing Buggaram segment and Metpally, Mallapur and Ibrahimpatman mandals from Metpally segment. Since then, Mr. Ratnakara Rao has been trying to get a foothold on Korutla visiting Metpally, Mallapur and Ibrahimpatnam mandals frequently. But Mr. Ramulu, who won on Janata Party ticket in 2004, has moved close to the Congress party and is aspiring for the party ticket from Korutla. He had taken exception to the Minister’s visit to the constituency during the Indiramma Sambaralu. On Thursday, Mr. Ramulu protested against the Minister’s visit to Metpally for a government function on Wednesday. “The Minister has no right to visit my constituency without my permission. Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy and APCC president D. Srinivas have also instructed him as such,” he claimed. A shocked Mr. Rao said he was a Cabinet Minister and entitled to visit any constituency and participate in government functions. Expressing displeasure at Mr. Ramulu shouting in public, the Minister stated that he would complain to the party president and the Chief Minister. Meanwhile, district Congress leaders expressed concern over the humiliation of the Minister at a public function. “We will inform the party high command about the ‘ill-treatment’ of Mr. Rao by the MLA,” said a senior party leader.
