Reliance Infra sole bidder for expressway

Rs. 2,676 crore investment


NEW DELHI: Reliance Infrastructure has emerged as the sole bidder for the 135 km greenfield Eastern Peripheral Expressway project covering Haryana, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis being offered by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). The project would entail an investment of Rs. 2,676 crore and involves construction of greenfield six lane expressway with access control highway connecting Faridabad-Noida-Gaziabad-Sonepat which will also act as bypass to Delhi with a concession period of 20 years.

According to an official release here, once operational, the new expressway will ease traffic congestion, drastically cut travel time and ensure safe and comfortable movement of traffic. The company is at present in advanced stages of the four-laning of five National Highway projects in Tamil Nadu, covering a length of 400 km at a cost of Rs. 3,100 crore.

In another development, the company has bagged the four laning of Gurgoan-Faridabad road and upgradation of Ballabgarh-Sohana road on build, operate and transfer (BOT) basis. The project is expected to be completed in two years from the date of commencement with a concession period of 17 years.
