Tirupur-Chennai train service under study

Coimbatore: Southern Railway is considering a proposal to operate a train service between Tirupur and Chennai.

Minister of State for Railways R. Velu conveyed this information to State Minister for Highways and Ports M.P. Saminathan in a letter dated December 16. Mr. Saminathan had sought the service in view of Tirupur becoming a separate district and increasing passenger traffic to the hosiery town. — Staff Reporter
