12,000 children administered polio vaccine
Staff Reporter
BANGALORE: About 12,000 children were administered polio vaccine as part of the door-to-door programme which got under way here on Tuesday. The drive met with stiff resistance in some pockets of the city, said a BBMP official. A day after repeated assurances by government and hospital authorities, residents of Jagjivanramnagar, Devarjeevanahalli and Tannery Road turned away volunteers and threatened them with dire consequences if they stepped into the area. A few volunteers and workers were also manhandled, the official said.
