TIRUVARUR: Students from 115 schools participated eagerly and displayed their exhibits at the Tiruvarur district level science exhibition organised at National Higher Secondary School at Mannargudi in Tiruvarur district on Monday.

Dairy Development Minister U. Mathivanan declared open the exhibition. Collector M. Chandrasekaran and Chief Educational Officer A. S. Radhakrishnan participated in the programme.

A total of 197 exhibits were displayed. They were categorised under six heads and three prizes were given for each category. Nearly 10,000 students and teachers from other schools visited the exhibition.

According to Dr. Radhakrishnan, the students showed tremendous interest and showcased their talents and scientific skills.

“It is noteworthy that the students of a district hit by floods last month showed so much of response against all odds,” Dr. Radhakrishnan said. The Minister was instrumental in organising the exhibition to create confidence in the minds of the young students, he added.

A seminar on global warming and other environment aspects was also held.
