CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu (33 points) won the overall team championship in the South Zone men’s boxing championship, which concluded here on Sunday. Karnataka, with 25 points, finished second. The inter-zonal championship will be held in Mumbai from January 15 to 20. The Tamil Nadu Boxing Association (TNBA) announced that the Federation Cup for men will be held in Kancheepuram during the first week of February next year and the Federation Cup for women will take place in Erode during the last week of January 2009. On the lines of cricket’s Indian Premier League, a Metro Cup (only boxers from the metros can take part) will be launched in March 2009 in Chennai. Eleven best boxers in each category from the country will be selected. Sunday’s results: Finals: Featherweight: Chinnna Kesava Reddy (AP) bt Vinay Reddy (Arty) on pts.; Light: M.
