Non-judicial stamp papers already on sale from Nov. 1 Official admits to non-judicial stamp papers’ shortage
For better service: Postmaster-General K. Sandhya Rani exchanging copies of the MoU with Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration and Stamps B. Aravind Reddy. HYDERABAD: The Postal Department has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the State government for sale of non-judicial stamp papers at specified post offices from January 1. The non-judicial stamp papers of the denominations of Rs. 5, Rs. 10, Rs. 20, Rs. 50 and Rs. 100 will be available from that date at all the 213 sub-post offices in the limits of GHMC and 104 head post offices elsewhere in the State, said Yesodhara Menon, Chief Post Master General of AP Circle, and B. Aravind Reddy, Commissioner and Inspector General of Registration and Stamps. Speaking to reporters after Mr. Reddy exchanged copies of the MoU with postal authorities here on Monday, Ms. Menon said the non-judicial stamp papers were already on sale on an experimental basis at 29 post offices in Hyderabad since November 1. The Postal Department did business worth Rs. 2.5 lakh during the period. Mr. Aravind Reddy said the State government had been waiting for this day for the last 6 months. He also said the government had decided to tie up with the Postal Department in this venture as it badly felt the need to expand counters for sale of non-judicial stamp papers. It found that the 800 stamp vendors and 432 sub-registrar offices in the State were inadequate. He conceded that there was shortage of non-judicial stamp papers on occasions due to problems at security printing press and scarcity created by vendors.
