Interact Club inaugurated

The Interact Club of Oriental Higher Secondary school at Thanjavur was inaugurated recently. Dr. M. Singaravelu, President of Rotary Club of Thanjavur, S. Kunchithapatham, secretary of the school, T.S. Kalyanasundaram, Head Master, offered felicitations.

Pudukottai girl wins gold in athletic meet

A Standard IX student of Government Model Higher Secondary School, Pudukottai, Rani won gold medal in the 3000m event at the State-level athletic meet held at Coimbatore recently. She will participate in the national-level athletic meets to be held at Himachal Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. Rani was felicitated by the Chief Educational Officer, Pudukottai, S. Chellam and District Educational Officer Madevan Pillai at a function organised recently. Headmaster S. Rajasekar and staff members commended the youngster.

Puliyur school triumphs

Students of Chettinad Rajah Muthiah Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Puliyur, Karur district, brought laurels to their institution by winning medals at the divisional-level swimming competition. B. Aishwarya (Std. VIII), S. Nivetha Priya (VIII), R. Raveena (VII) and N. Naveena (VII) in the under-14 category and K.S. Nivethitha, I. Sumrudhah, S. Susitra, G. Suruthi, S. Ranga Jayesh, V. Amrit and M. Muralidharan, all Std. IX students, in the under-17 category, took par t in the competition. They have qualified for the State-level swimming meet. The Chettinad Cement Corporation Limited president C. Sudhakar, vice-president A. Subramanian, senior principal of the school, M.S. Ilango and principal T. Valliammai felicitated the students.

Programme on disaster management

A special programme on disaster management was held at the Sri Suba Bharathi Matriculation School, Kallalangudi in Pudukottai district. Personnel of the Fire and Rescue Services led by the Station Fire Officer, Alangudi, S. Rajendran, demonstrated the rescue operation and providing first aid to the people hit by disasters.

Science exhibition

Students had displayed about 50 scientific models at the annual science exhibition held at the Crescent Higher Secondary School, Avaniapuram, near Aduthurai town. S. Mohamed Jalaludeen, Professor of Entomology, Tamil Nadu Rice Research Institute, Aduturai, inaugurated the exhibition. He stressed the need for checking global warming to maintain ecological balance. The Headmaster, Sagul Hameed appreciated the efforts put in by the students in preparing various models on disa ster management, food security and harnessing energy.

Kids Show

Students of five schools participated in the Kids Show held at the Aditya Birla Public School, Reddipalayam, Ariyalur district recently. Kamini Natarajan, president, Sangam Ladies Club, was the chief guest. J. Settu, General Manager, Grasim Industries Limited, presided over the function. The Principal, Geetha Govindan Menon offered felicitations. Sabarmathi Vidyalaya, Ariyalur, bagged the first prize.
