CHENNAI: Don Bosco Annai Youth edged Southern Railway 1-0 in a drab match on Sunday in the St. Joseph’s-CFA senior division league at the Nehru stadium. The all important goal came in the ninth minute itself off a poor clearance by Railway goalkeeper Amalraj. It all started with a flag kick by Annai’s Riaz Ahmed from the left corner. Amalraj launching himself in line with the trajectory of the ball, fisted it. But the ball only fell at the feet of rival player Shyju, who did not lose time in tapping it into the net. From there the contest meandered with both teams guilty of wasting chances. Earlier in the first division, Madras Eagles swamped Chennai City Police 4-1. Elango, Dinakaran and Rajan Jacob (two) were the scorers for the winner while Satyamurthy reduced the margin. — Special Correspondent
