Congress workers held

KARUR: The police rounded up scores of Congress workers when they staged a demonstration near the bus stand here on Saturday protesting the unruly behaviour of some people who vandalised the posters and cut-outs of Congress leaders in Chennai.
District president of the party Bank K. Subramanian led the protest near the bus stand in which former MLA Velliyanai V. Ramanathan, Town secretary K. Subban and others participated in the demonstration.
The protestors raised slogans denouncing the attack on the party State headquarters Satyamurthy Bhavan in Chennai.
Released
They demanded the arrest of those who had burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and sought their arrest as well.
The police released all those whom they picked up half an hour after the demonstration was over.
