NEW DELHI: Umpires held the spotlight on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Plate semifinal between Bengal and Goa at the Karnail Singh Stadium here on Saturday.

With play reduced to just 25 overs due to poor light, Goa, resuming its first innings at 95 for five, was 166 for seven, leaving Bengal frustrated.

Ranadeb Bose and Manoj Tiwari accounted for a wicket each even as Ryan Ninan (66 off 133 balls with eight 4s and one 6) and Robin D’Souza stood firm to keep the contest alive. Bengal, having scored 337, was obviously sitting pretty but frequent interruptions on account of weather left the team in an anxious state.
