‘Come out with details about irregularities’

Correspondent

Karwar: Chief Executive Officer of the Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat Veeranna G. Turumuri has said that the Congress has made general allegations regarding irregularities in development projects undertaken by the Haliyal Taluk Panchayat and has not come out with specific details.

He told presspersons at Haliyal on Saturday that the Congress had alleged that there were irregularities in various development projects undertaken by the taluk panchayat and that members of the party had locked the panchayat office in protest. A few days ago, officers from the zilla panchayat had visited Haliyal to conduct an inquiry. Mr. Turumuri said those who made the allegations should specifically point out projects which had gone wrong. If they did so, experts would be called in to investigate the matter, he added.
