“Tiruvannamalai, third in forming women SHGs”

Staff Reporter

Tiruvannamalai: ‘Namakku Name Thittam’ is a unique project executed only by Tamil Nadu, Collector M. Rajendran said.

He was delivering a special address at a rural development campaign organised by the Field Publicity Office, Vellore, and the SINAM society, Tiruvannamalai, to disseminate information about rural development schemes executed by the Central and State governments.

Mr. Rajendran said that the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam and its town panchayat and municipal versions were also pioneer schemes. “Tiruvannamalai district stands third in forming women self-help groups, with Tirunelveli and Kancheepuram holding the first two places. While Tirunelveli crossed 17,000 and Kancheepuram 16,000, Tiruvannamalai formed 15,000 groups,” he said.
