Yoga classes for councillors begin

Chennai: Chennai Corporation councillors are set to learn yoga during the weekends.

Mayor M.Subramanian inaugurated the yoga training at the My Ladye’s Park on Thursday.

Yoga trainer Asana Andiappan demonstrated a few asanas for the councillors. The Mayor, who is a yoga exponent himself, urged the councillors to practise the exercises as it would help them perform their duties better. Ten classes would be offered for them.

Platforms have been provided at My Ladye’s Park, Nehru Park, Thiru.Vi.Ka Park and Independence Day Park for people to meditate and practise yoga, Mr.Subramanian said. Yoga training is also provided to drivers employed in the Corporation to improve their concentration and reflexes.
