Mumbai:Vivek S. Jain has emerged winner by gaining the maximum number of votes during the committee elections held at the 93rd Annual General Body Meeting on Thursday, at the Mahalaxmi race course. Among the 11 candidates contesting for the elections, Mr. Vivek Jain was voted with the highest number of 790 votes for the fifth time. Mr. Shashi Chand Jain, father of Vivek Jain, finished second with 658 votes. The incumbent chairman of RWITC Mr. Cyrus S. Poonawalla came fifth with 637 votes. Mohan Thakur and Ram Shroff are the two new faces elected to the nine-member managing committee. Mr. Cyrus S. Poonawalla retains the Club’s Chairmanship and Mr. Vivek S. Jain is Chairman, Stewards of the Club as per the decision taken by the new managing committee. The nine elected members of the new managing committee: 1. Vivek Jain (790 votes), 2. S.C.Jain (658), 3. Jaydev Mody (657), 4. Shyam Ruia (650), 5. Cyrus Poonawalla (637), 6. Champaklal Zaveri (633), 7. Shivlal Daga (515), 8. Mohan Thakur (500) and 9. Ram Shroff (477). The losers were Jamshed Appoo (448) and Mohit Lalvani (201). The Board of Appeal elected members are Mr. Zavaray S. Poonawalla (593) and Mr. Kumar R. Dalal (534).
