“Follow transparency in nursery admissions”

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Friday directed the Directorate Of Education of Delhi government to ensure that city’s private schools maintain transparency in nursery admissions.

A Division Bench of Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Muralidhar directed the DOE to issue a circular instructing all schools to be transparent.

The Bench said “DOE is directed to display on their website and notice board the criteria for admission in nursery and after the lists of selected students are finalised, to post the break up of the marks of each candidate on school’s website.

The court was hearing a petition filed by the Centre for Civil Society, an NGO, pertaining to nursery admissions in private schools and the difficulties faced byparents.

The petition alleged that the Delhi government has failed to take action against some private schools which have not adopted an admission process that is transparent and as per the guidelines issued by the DOE. - PTI
