Tight security at all tourism spots

Staff Reporter

NELLORE: The Tourism Department is planning to beef up security at all tourism sites and public places in the State, said Archaeology and Museums and Tourism Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy.

Speaking to the newsmen here on Thursday the Minister said, the State government will soon arrange trained security personnel at all major temples and tourists spots, though some temples will not come under Tourism Department. The tourism officials are holding discussions with Endowments Department officials in this regard.

Security will be provided with police and private security at the heritage structures and monuments, the Minister said. The Minister said that Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy will lay foundation stone for the new airport in Nellore district in January next year. The State government has sanctioned 2,072 acres for the proposed airport in Dagadarthi village in the district.

The district administration has been directed to allot the necessary land which was in possession of some farmers (patta land), DKT, government, forest and poramboku lands for the airport. The project was handed over to Maharashtra Airport Development Company and the works will be completed in 36 months, he said.
