Demand draft: SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan inaugurating a PSC office march taken out by organisations of backward communities and Dalits in Thiruvananthapuram on Thursday demanding implementation of a High Court order on recruitment. — Thiruvananthapuram: The organisations of backward communities and Dalits took out a march to the head office of the Public Service Commission here on Thursday demanding implementation of a High Court directive to fill 50 per cent of the vacancies in government service on merit basis and the remaining 50 per cent on reservation basis. They demanded the withdrawal of the PSC’s decision to go in appeal to the Supreme Court against the High Court order. The organisations wanted the PSC members who challenged the Constitution to be impeached. They criticised the PSC for making appointments in units of 20 instead of units of 100, for not advertising vacancies promptly and for implementing an undeclared recruitment ban. The march was inaugurated by general secretary of the SNDP Yogam Vellappally Natesan. Around 50 organisations of backward communities and Dalits participated in the march. The Muslim League participated in the march but declined to share the platform with the NDF.
