“Lift embargo on vaccine production”
CHENNAI: The CPI (M) on Wednesday sought Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s intervention to lift the embargo on production of vaccine at the Louis Pasteur Institute in Coonoor, the BCG vaccine laboratory, Guindy, and the Central Research Institute, Kasauli.
Party MP T.K. Rangarajan, who met the Prime Minister, said it was unfortunate that the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare had stopped production in these institutions, and decided to develop a vaccine park at Chengalpattu at a cost of Rs.400 crore. It would become operational only by 2012. — Special Correspondent
