Restrictions on tractors
VILLUPURAM: District Collector R.Palanisamy has prohibited the movement of gauge-wheel or ploughing implements-fixed tractors on rural roads.
In a statement here on Thursday, the Collector stated that such tractors were causing damage to the roads constructed under the various Central programmes and with financial assistance from the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development.
The Collector warned that if any violation was found on this score, such tractors would be impounded, the owners would be penalised and the expense on road repair works would be claimed from them. The respective Panchayat Presidents and the Village Administrative Officers had been directed to take cognizance of such violations, he added. — Special Correspondent
