Baalu meets Pranab

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: Union Shipping Minister and DMK Parliamentary party leader T.R. Baalu has met External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee here and sought the Centre’s intervention for repatriation of 21 youths from Tamil Nadu who are stranded in Malaysia. Mr. Mukherjee has promised to take necessary steps, says a press release issued by Mr. Baalu’s office.

The youths had paid Rs.1.70 lakh each to an agent, who promised them jobs in Australia. They left in June. They were left high and dry in Malaysia and their passports taken away by a representative of the agent, who reportedly died in October.
