Held for fatal assault

Coimbatore: Podanur police have arrested Boopathy (33) on Wednesday on charges of having fatally assaulted his father Samraj (70) in an inebriated condition on December 14.

Samraj (70), an astrologer, died of injuries.

Boopathy was living in separation after his wife and two children left him owing to difference of opinion.

Ever since the separation, Boopathy was said to be addicted to liquor.

On December 14, it is learnt that Samraj admonished his son for drinking at his expense and not going for any work. The wordy duel ended in Boopathy assaulting and pushing Samraj which proved to be fatal.
