Women up in arms against terrorism

UNITED STAND: Women at the solidarity meeting against terrorism in Chennai on Wednesday.
Chennai: Women of Vision, a voluntary organisation, organised a meeting on Wednesday to encourage women to debate and discuss how terrorism can be curbed.
About 200 participants attended the solidarity meeting against terrorism and drew up a resolution asking the government to provide better security measures in the country.
Shyamala Habibullah Badsha, founder of the organisation, said that a workshop for safety awareness would be conducted soon for women. Senior advocate Habibullah Badsha stressed the importance of presenting a united front to protect the nation so that all Indians can co-exist peacefully without being divided by religion, caste or regionalism. Prominent persons from various fields including writer Sivashankari, M.J. Akbar, Rasheeda Bhagat, Geetha Madhavan and Robert Guruswamy addressed the gathering of women.
