Saurashtra’s task cut out

Rajkot: Saurashtra’s task will be cut out when it takes on Hyderabad in its last Ranji Trophy Elite Group A match on Thursday.

Tactical deficiency in last week’s match against Delhi may cost the host a privileged spot in the knockout stage scheduled to start the day after Christmas.

With seven points separating the teams before the start of the match, Saurashtra was sitting pretty and seemed set to progress to the quarterfinals from Group ‘A’ along with Mumbai and Gujarat.

However, a series of blunders ensured that the team handed the match on platter to Delhi which eventually ran away with six points.

Just one point separates the two; Saurashtra has 18 while Delhi has 17.

Now the team will be keenly watching the happenings at Jaipur where Delhi would be equally under stress to score full points against Rajasthan.

More importantly Saurashtra has to play all-round bright cricket to overwhelm Hyderabad.
