GITAM retains chess title

VISAKHAPATNAM: Host GITAM Institute of Technology won the chess title for the seventh successive year in the Andhra University A-zone inter-collegiate tournaments here on Wednesday.

It finished with 14 out of possible 16 points in the chess event held in Swiss league.

Dr. L. Bullayya College retained the volleyball event beating AU College of Engineering 25-2, 25-19, 25-17 in the final.

Chess: Final placing: 1. GITAM Institute of Technology (K. Nikhilesh Kjmar, G. Sai Prasanth, K. Vamsi Krishna, V. Anudeep and M. Rajesh), 2. AU College of Engineering, 3. Presidency College, 4. A.U. College of Arts and Commerce, 5. Dr. L.B. College.

Cricket: The scores: AU College of Science and Technology 81 lost to Dr. LB College (PG courses) 82 for three (Pavan 47).

Hindustan Shipyard Degree College 80 for nine (R. Patrudu five for six) lost to GITAM Institute of Technology 81 for no loss (Ishak 40).

Samata College 98 for five bt Mahathi College 97 (Raj Kumar 45).

Mrs. AVN College 93 (Naveen four for 14) lost to GVP Degree College 95 for six.
