“No request from Ajmal”
Islamabad: Pakistan said on Tuesday that it had not received any request for legal assistance from Mohammad Ajmal Amir (Kasab), the lone gunman arrested for carrying out the Mumbai terror attacks.
Pakistan’s Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmed Mukhtar told reporters in Gujrat in the Punjab province that its High Commission in India had not received any letter from Ajmal.
The stand was echoed by Minister for Information Sherry Rehman, who said that India was yet to share any information or evidence with Pakistan on the origins of the Mumbai attackers.
Pakistan has denied that Ajmal is a citizen of the country, though his father told the media that the arrested Mumbai attacker was his son.
Mr. Mukhtar said Islamabad was prepared to cooperate in probing the terrorist attacks if there was a request from New Delhi. — PTI
