Davangere: Justice B.K. Somashekar, chairman of the one-man commission set up to probe the attacks on churches, on Tuesday visited the church at Bada village in Davangere district, which was attacked a few months ago. Mr. Somashekar, along with the Superintendent of Police Sandeep Patil, Head Quarters Assistant to the Deputy Commissioner Bettasurmutt and Assistant Commissioner Janaki, visited the church in the evening and examined the damages. He asked Mr. Patil whether the damage caused to windows, cross and furniture at the church was mentioned in the First Information Report. He instructed all people who had sent petitions to the commission to make their statements to the commission in Davangere at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Wednesday. He said the petitioners would be given travel allowance and dearness allowance and if needed, legal guidance also. So far, the commission has recorded over 592 statements with reference to the church attack case, he informed. Mr. Somashekar is expected to visit three churches in Davangere late in the night on Tuesday and visit a church in Malebennur on Wednesday morning.
