Coastal Security Group for more check-posts
Staff Reporter
PUDUKOTTAI: In an attempt to ensure tighter vigil and better security, the Coastal Security Group has planned to set up additional check-posts and out-posts along the 38-km long coast of the district.
Two check-posts are being constructed at Kaarakottai and Semakottai, about 80 km from here, at an expenditure of Rs.6 lakh each. These would be an additional facility for the personnel manning marine police stations at Manamelkudi and Tirupunavasal respectively.
Fishermen in need of any help can contact the marine police station or the check-post, the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Coastal Security Group, Pattukottai, S. Amsavalli said after inspecting the construction of the check-post at Semakottai. She said two out-posts, sanctioned for the district, would be set up soon. The out-posts attached to the marine police stations of Manamelkudi and Tirupunavasal would be constructed at Kottaipattinam and Muthukuda respectively. Each out-post would have full-fledged infrastructure.
She said that a strict vigil was being kept in the coastal villages and a close surveillance on the movement of suspicious persons or boats was being kept.
