District Panchayat Chairman M.R. Rajendran addressing the District Planning Committee Meeting in Krishnagiri on Tuesday. – KRISHNAGIRI: District Panchayat Chairman and Planning Committee president M.R. Rajendran asked administration to provide a list of development works undertaken in the district. He alleged that several of his plea in this regard had not been considered. Though schemes were being implemented using funds from the Centre and State governments, officials were not providing the required information. Mr. Rajendran presided over the District Planning Committee meeting at the collectorate. District Collector V.K. Shanmugam who is also the vice-chairman of the committee; Project Officer (DRDA), C.K. Veeranan; and heads of 24 departments participated in the meeting. Sekar, councillor, said that he was not aware of the development works being implemented in the district. Mr. Veeranan said details were available on Website. Mr. Rajendran said that there were complaints regarding allottment of houses s under the Indira Memorial Housing Scheme. Mr. Veeranan said that 470 houses were allotted in the district under the scheme on 75:25 funding. A total of 379 thatched huts were rebuilt using tiles. Under the NREGS scheme, so far Rs. 6 crores had been disbursed through the village panchayats. Under the MPs Local Area Development Fund, 45 works have been undertaken. Under the Anaithu Grama Anna Marumalarchi Thittam 67 panchayats were given Rs. 20 lakhs each for undertaking development works. Under this scheme, so far 1,012 works have been taken up. Of which 601 works had been completed. He said, all the panchayat union schools would be provided tiled roofs. Under the MLAs local area development fund, 414 works have been taken up, out of which 72 were finished. A member complained that tenders were floated and work of erecting the hi-mast lamps in Veppanapalli and Bagalur were still pending for the last one year. The chairman insisted on cancellation of the contract. Collector joined issue with councillors regarding the bad condition of roads in Hosur. He asked PWD officials to carry out the works quickly.
