Child run over

CHENNAI: A little girl who was standing on the road to see off her father who was going to work, was killed when a bus ran over her in Ayanavaram on Monday.

Police said that L. Jeeva (4) was waving to her father, R. Lakshmanan (30), a construction worker, who was proceeding to work. A Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) bus that came out of a nearby depot knocked down the girl who came under the wheels.

The victim died on the spot.

The bus driver, Tirumalai Kumar (48) of Tirusulam, was arrested, police sources added.
