The JSS focuses on providing employability skills and vocational training to illiterates, neo-literates and underprivileged youth. An initiative of the Directorate of Adult Education, MHRD, the JSS has chapters all over the country. Monday’s meeting, in which coordinators from different JSS wings participated, was aimed at evaluating progress, identifying challenging areas and addressing them. “There are complaints that some JSS chapters are commercialising the programmes. This should be addressed immediately,” he said. S. Ramakrishna, joint director, Directorate of Adult Education, New Delhi, said that soon all programmes pertaining to the JSS would be available online. P.S.
