Railway employee convicted
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI: A special court convicted a railway employee of charges of impersonation and cheating here on Monday.
According to the prosecution, V. Sekar had made a false claim by impersonating himself as Ashok Kumar, son of Pakkirisamy, and got appointment in the Southern Railway as a temporary khalasi in 1975. He was actually the son-in-law of Pakkirisamy, a railway employee who retired in 1976 and died later. Since Pakkirisamy’s son, Ashok Kumar was already employed in the railway, Sekar got recruited by furnishing false information under the ward category.
The Central Bureau of Investigation had registered a case in this regard.
The Additional Chief Metropolitan for CBI cases, B. Sarojini Devi, who heard the case sentenced Sekar to three years rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 8,000.
