CHENNAI: Hundreds of employees of Tamil Nadu Electricity Board on Monday formed a human chain near Valluvar Kottam in the city as part of the Energy Conservation Week celebrations of the TNEB.

“Public awareness about energy conservation is crucial for the success of conservation initiatives. Modest contribution of every individual towards energy conservation can make a big difference,” said B.Mannar, Superintending Engineer of Chennai Electricity Distribution Circle (Central), TNEB. Officials and staff of Valluvar Kottam TNEB office and the TNEB divisions of Mylapore, Egmore, Anna Salai and T.Nagar participated in the campaign. Some of the TNEB offices in the city had also separately organised campaigns as part of the week. Executive Engineer (O & M), Anna Salai, N.Kalappan, led an awareness campaign in Anna Salai division. As part of the energy conservation week, the TNEB is planning to organise competitions, including essay and elocution contests, for school and college students to create awareness on energy conservation.
