Staff Reporter

PUDUKOTTAI: Villagers of Pratapraman Pattinam near Manamelkudi staged a road roko for a while demanding the immeidate payment of flood relief to the residents of the village.

They alleged that although a number of residents of the adjoining hamlets including Krishnajipattinam, Nimeli Vayal and Kolli Thidal had been given Rs. 1,000 a family-card, all the 485 residents of Pratapraman Pattinam have been ignored.

The agitation was withdrawn following an assurance by the Revenue Divisional Officer, S. Visagan and the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Kottaipattinam, R. Ruthra Sekaran that steps would be taken for payment of relief to them without omission. Traffic in Kattumnavadi and Meemisal sector on the East Coast Road was affected for a while.
