Murder accused nabbed

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Two persons, including a young woman, have been arrested in connection with the murder of a security guard in Peerkankaranai earlier this year.

Ponnusamy (48) of Bharathiyar Street, Peerkankaranai, was found dead on July 20. The deceased with stab injuries on his face was identified only after his daughter Subha was shown a computer-generated image without the wounds, said K.Kannan, Inspector of Police, Peerkankaranai.

Mr.Kannan said it was found that Ponnusamy had a quarrel with one Gomati alias Kuttiammal (24), a resident of Thirumangai Alwarpuram, Thiruneermalai, on the night of his death and was murdered by Murugan, a resident of Srinivasa Nagar, New Perungalathur, who came to her help. The duo were on the run and were arrested at the Tambaram bus terminus on Sunday, the investigating officer said. They were remanded to custody and sent to the Puzhal Prison.
