Two killed, five injured in accident

Pollachi: Two persons were killed and five others injured when a maxi-cab vehicle they were travelling in collided with a Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation bus at Sirukilanthai near Negamam on the Pollachi - Tirupur road on Sunday morning.

The incident

According to the police, the maxi-cab vehicle was proceeding towards Pollachi when it collided with a TNSTC bus proceeding from Pollachi to Tirupur near Negamam.

In the collision B. Soundarrajan (50), working as cashier in the State Bank of India branch at Poolavadi near Udumalpet, and the driver of the car Krishnasamy (60), a recently retired TNSTC driver, were killed on the spot.

The injured have been identified as Balakrishnan (75) , Selvam (62) , Vijayakumari, her daughter Nithya (12) and Rajendran.

In the impact of the collision, the maxi-cab vehicle was completely damaged. A case has been registered and further investigations are being carried out.
