Rs.4.34 crore relief disbursed

As many as 143 livestock-owners got a relief of Rs.6.5 lakh.
PUDUKOTTAI: Relief to the tune of Rs.4.34 crore has been disbursed to those hit by the floods and torrential rains last month in the district.
In a press release issued here on Sunday, Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar said that Rs.2.62 crore had been disbursed to 26,240 families whose houses or huts were marooned by waters.
Each family got a relief of Rs.1,000.
A relief of Rs.1.50 crore went to those whose houses and huts were damaged either partially or fully.
As many as 143 livestock-owners got a relief of Rs.6.50 lakh.
The bereaved family members of seven persons who died of monsoon-related havoc, have been sanctioned Rs.2 lakh from out of the Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.
627 families get relief in Pappapatti
Union Minister of State for Environment and Forests S. Regupathy, on Sunday, disbursed a relief of Rs.1,000 to each of the 627 families in Pappapatti village panchayat in Alankudi taluk.
An official release said that the villages including Pappapatti, Kaadampatti, Pudukottai Viduthi, Kannumadai and Arithodipatti were marooned during the torrential showers last month.
