TIRUCHI: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Board has planned to organise a human chain in the city later this week to promote awareness of ways to conserve power as part of the Energy Conservation Week, which was launched here on Sunday.

Employees of the TNEB formed a mini-human chain as part of the inauguration of the Week. The Chief Engineer, TNEB, Tiruchi region, R.Seetharaman, K.Venkataraman, Superintending Engineer, TNEB, Metro, Tiruchi, and other employees formed part of the chain. A propaganda van, carrying conservation messages, was also flagged off on the occasion.

Mr. Seetharaman said that a human chain, involving various sections of the society including students, would be organised here on December 20. “We have planned to carry out an intensive awareness campaign this time,” Mr. Seetharaman said.

Tips on conservation of power at households and commercial establishments, including use of CFL lamps, would be offered as part of the campaign.
