TIRUCHI: A musical ‘pattimandram’ was organised on the Central Prison premises here on Saturday which kept the prisoners and the organisers enthralled for several hours. The prison authorities in association with various Lions Clubs and Harihar Alloys Private Limited organised the event which lasted nearly five hours. Prof. V. Saradha was the moderator for the musical ‘pattimandram’ during which the competing team members rendered films songs from different Tamil movies to drive home their point. “Film songs that elevates a man to a ‘Mahatma’ were composed by yesteryear Tamil poets or the present day poets” was the topic for the musical ‘pattimandram. The team members brought musical instrument players along with them for the programme which held the prisoners in rapt attention and proved a welcome break for the inmates, say officials. The Superintendent of Central Prison, Tiruchi, A. Murugesan, honoured the participating team members by presenting each one of them with a shawl on the occasion. Representatives of various Lions Clubs were present on the occasion.
