The competition is open to women enrolled in accredited colleges or universities Focus is on ideas that involve or promote eco-friendly technologies Manipal: The Manipal Institute of Management will organise a Business Plan Competition for young women, titled “EnPower 2009” here as part of an international conference on “Harnessing Entrepreneurial Potential of Women for Economic Growth”. The institute will hold this conference in association with the Asian Centre for Entrepreneurial Initiatives (ASCENT), Bangalore, from January 22 to 24. A press release issued by the institute here said the conference would bring together members from academia, entrepreneurs, facilitators and business development service providers to discuss issues concerning women entrepreneurship and harnessing their potential. ObjectiveThe objective of the “EnPower 2009” contest is to foster entrepreneurship among young women through identifying ideas and talent that could create tomorrow’s businesses. Ideas that involve or promote eco-friendly technology in any sphere of human activity – be it services, agriculture, manufacturing, construction or education, will be the focus of the contest. The competition is open to women enrolled in accredited colleges or universities, as well as to those participants below the age of 30 who intend to venture into entrepreneurship. Business plans can be submitted by an individual or by a team comprising not more than three members (All the members of the team must be women students). All proposals must comprise the original work of participants. The executive summary of the business proposals should include: a brief summary of the plan and the names of participants with their affiliations. Executive summary of the proposals should be submitted on December 20, 2008. The proposals will be reviewed by a panel and those selected only will be given a chance to be presented at the conference. Selected candidates will be required to submit a report with all details of the proposal. Papers on innovative business ideas pertaining to eco-friendly, recycled and recyclable products/services will be given importance.
