Netaji SC posts an unimpressive win

CHENNAI: Netaji SC posted an unimpressive 1-0 win over State Bank of India in a Chennai Football Association senior division league match at the SDAT-Nehru Stadium here on Friday.

Issoef Hetereyo, an import from Ivory Coast, made good use of a rebound to score in the 58th minute and get full points for his team playing its first match of the season.

Netaji surprisingly failed to put up a notable show. Kanakaraja’s first shot rebounded off goalkeeper Augustine Babu’s hands and Issoef was quick to latch on to it. This is SBI’s third successive defeat.

Earlier in a first division match, Don Bosco (Basin Bridge) and Challengers Union played out a goalless draw.

AG-TN ‘A’ sweeps honours

AG-Tamil Nadu ‘A’ swept the honours in the South Zone Indian Audit and Accounts Department chess tournament which concluded here on Friday.

Ebenezer Joseph (AG-TN ‘A’) won the individual event, while A.K. Jagadeesan (AG-Kerala) finished the runner-up.

The team event was won by Joseph and R. Suresh Kumar of AG-TN ‘A’, while N. Jayaseelan and S. Manivannan of AG-TN ‘B’ were the runners-up.

Grandmaster R.B. Ramesh gave away the prizes.

Prabhakar (1.5) (AG-Kerala); Ravindra Kumar (0.5) (PDA-SCR) drew with Nagesh Kumar (0.5) (PDA-SCR).
