Fatehdeep in final

GURGAON: Fatehdeep Singh knocked out the second-seeded Jatinder Singh 6-1, 6-4 in the semifinals of the boys section in the National under-12 tennis championship at the NTA Complex here on Friday. He will meet the top-seeded Shailender Boniface in the final.

Boniface in partnership with Lalhmachhuana won the doubles title, beating the top-seeded Fatehdeep and Jatinder Singh 6-1, 1-6, 7-6(2).

In the girls section, top-seeded Akshara Iska set up a title clash with the second-seeded Roma Chandiran.

The results: Under-12 boys: Singles: Semifinals: Shailender Boniface bt H. T. Zoremsanga 7-6(5), 6-1; Fatehdeep Singh bt Jatinder Singh 6-1, 6-4. Tamil Nadu won the South Zone EPF football tournament in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday. In the final, Tamil Nadu defeated Karnataka 3-0 with Manikani, Antony Xavier and Pradeep Kumar scoring.
