KOCHI: Olympic gold medallist and ace shooter Abhinav Bhindra has extended his “wholehearted support” to the anti-tobacco campaign spearheaded by the former Acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, K. Narayana Kurup.

In a statement released here during a visit to Kerala, he described the campaign as “inspiring, lively, and determined” and wished it all success.

The shooter recalled that the Kerala Division Bench verdict penned by Mr. Justice Kurup banning smoking in public places “has served as a grim reminder of the impending doom which tobacco holds for humanity, which in turn catalysed Parliament… and the comity of nations into swift action by enacting legislation and other measures, saving millions from the scourge of the insidious tobacco vapour.”
