Delegates from 30 countries from Asia, Africa and Europe will attend the three-day conference HYDERABAD: The 8th Congress of the Afro-Asian People’s Solidarity Organisation will commence here on December 14. Being organised in the background of “volatile” international developments, the three-day conference with the theme ‘Role of AAPSO in an independent world, to strengthen South-South Cooperation and against war for peace and development’ will witness participation of delegates from 30 countries from Asia, Africa and Europe. Participants in the event will formulate policies and plans for their activities, according to AAPSO general secretary Nouri Abdulrazzak Hussain. Addressing a press conference along with All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation general secretaries Pallab Sengupta and K. Yadav Reddy here on Friday, Mr. Hussain said the Congress would hold deliberations on the present economic situation, issues of peace and disarmament and mobilising people against religious extremism and terrorism. Climate change and responsibility of people’s movement, non-alignment movement and South-South cooperation would form themes. Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy would inaugurate the Congress that would be attended by important political leaders. Besides adopting several resolutions on the issues confronting the people, the Congress would elect new leadership, he added.
