Unearths Rs. 30 crore assets of Fisheries official in Hyderabad and Kakinada HYDERABAD: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday unearthed assets worth over Rs.30 crore belonging to Suryanarayana, Executive Engineer, Fisheries, following simultaneous raids at his residence/office here and two houses of his relatives in Kakinada. A press release of the ACB said that he was in possession of 60 acres of wet agricultural land in East Godavari district, worth Rs.9.27 crore, 12 house sites in Kakinada valued at Rs.5.8 crore, four buildings in Kakinada, two flats in Singapore City at Ghatkesar, an independent bungalow in Banjara Hills, all worth Rs.8.5 crore. These assets were valued at Rs.22.85 crore. Movable propertiesThe movable properties unearthed included five bank accounts and FDRs worth Rs.3.5 lakh, 450 gm of gold, eight kg of silver, household articles valued at Rs.8 lakh, insurance policies of Rs.2 lakh and two cars worth Rs.13 lakh. Lockers in Kakinada, bank savings certificates and bank accounts dealing with government contract works and the money drawn is being probed. He is being arrested in the interest of investigation, as he is a repeat offender, according to the release. A case of disproportionate assets was registered against Suryanarayana in 1998, which is pending trial in the Special Court, Vijayawada. A total of disproportionate assets worth Rs.18.14 lakh was found during the search. Suryanarayana reportedly took up construction work of ESI multi-speciality hospital at Sanatnagar, maintenance and renovation works of the Education Department as well as the BC/Minorities Welfare and Animal Husbandry in the State. The works were taken up without the knowledge of his department head.
