CHENNAI: Players from AG’s Tamil Nadu ‘A’ and ‘B’ teams did well in the penultimate round of the south zone Indian Audit and Accounts Department chess tournament here on Thursday. While Jayaseelan (TN ‘B’) defeated E. Prabhakaran (Kerala), Suresh Kumar and Ebenezer Joseph (both TN ‘A’) played out a draw. The results: Suresh Kumar (AG TN ‘A’) (1.5) drew with Ebenezer Joseph (AG TN’A’) (1.5); A.K. Jagadeesan (AG Kerala) (2) bt Narayan Namboothiri (AG Karnataka) (1); E. Prabhakaran (AG Kerala) (0) lost to Jayaseelan (AG TN ‘B’) (2). B. Ravindra Kumar (PDA SCR) (0) lost to S. Manivannan (AG TN ‘B’) (1); Nagesh Kumar (PDA SCR) (0) lost to N.V. Ramakrishna (AG Karnataka) (1). Goalless drawTamil Nadu Special Police and Southern Railway played out a drab goalless draw on Thursday in the St. Joseph-CFA senior division league at the Nehru stadium. Both teams had their share of opportunities but none could be capitalised on. For the promoted team Railway, which played its third match, the one point from this draw took its points tally to four. As for TNSP, which played its second match, the outcome provided its first point, having lost to SAI in its earlier encounter. In the first division earlier, RBI drubbed City Police 5-0. Somu (2), Arunraj (2) and Sandilyan were the scorers.
